Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using ScanTrip, you confirm that you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy, and that you are able to enter into a binding agreement. If you use ScanTrip on behalf of someone else, you confirm you are authorized to do so.

The service

ScanTrip is a mobile application that helps you discover monuments and places around you. Its features include:

• Identifying a monument from your camera and generating a description of it;
• Translating text you point your camera at;
• Showing nearby monuments on a map with directions;
• An audio guide that reads descriptions aloud;
• A personal history of your visits, souvenir photos and trip summaries.

We may add, change or remove features at any time to improve the service.

Eligibility and your account

ScanTrip is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to use it. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Please notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

Acceptable use

When using ScanTrip, you agree not to:

• Break the law, infringe the rights of others, or use the app for any unlawful or harmful purpose;
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract our source code or data, except where permitted by law;
• Interfere with, overload, or disrupt the app, its servers, or the third-party services it relies on;
• Upload content you do not have the right to share, or content that is illegal, abusive, or violates the privacy of others;
• Circumvent usage limits, security measures, or access controls.

Subscriptions and payments

ScanTrip is free to download. Some features may require a paid subscription. When offered, subscriptions are sold and processed through the Apple App Store using your Apple ID, and are subject to Apple’s terms.

• Any free trial automatically converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends;
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and your Apple ID is charged for each renewal;
• You can view, manage, or cancel a subscription at any time in your App Store account settings;
• Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable; refund requests are handled by Apple.

Prices and plans may change; we will communicate any changes before they take effect.

Intellectual property

ScanTrip, including its name, logo, design, software, and original content, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app for your own, non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms. No other rights are granted.

Your content

You keep ownership of the photos and content you create in the app (for example, souvenir photos). You grant us the limited permission needed to store, back up and display that content to you so the app can work — for example, syncing your history across your devices. You are responsible for the content you capture and for having the right to capture it.

Third-party services and generated content

ScanTrip relies on third-party services to work (for example, mapping, place data, weather, translation, voice, and AI description generation). Their availability and results are not guaranteed.

Descriptions, anecdotes and translations are generated automatically and may contain errors, omissions or inaccuracies. They are provided for general information and cultural enjoyment only, and should not be relied upon as authoritative. Always follow official signage and local rules when visiting a site.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

ScanTrip is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, or fit for a particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits or opportunity, arising from your use of (or inability to use) ScanTrip. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your statutory consumer rights.

Termination

You may stop using ScanTrip and delete your account at any time from the app (Profile → Delete account), which permanently erases your account and associated data. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the app in a way that could harm the service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property, disclaimers and limitations of liability) will continue to apply.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the app evolves or as the law requires. We will post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of ScanTrip after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence in the European Union. Any dispute is subject to the competent courts, subject to applicable consumer law.
